With just 4 days away from the grand release of magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, the film’s advance booking was made open on Sunday and within a day’s time, the pre-sales earnings of the film have reportedly grossed Rs 1 crore.
According to reports, the shows for the film on the first day are completely booked. This pre-sales value of the movie is only based on the bookings made in Tamil Nadu with the screenings opened in local theatres. The bookings are yet to be opened at the theatre chains in Chennai and other states along with IMAX, reported TOI.
Reportedly, nearly 78,000 tickets have already been sold and it is expected that the film will make a pre-sale of Rs 8 crore in advance booking by Thursday once the bookings open for other languages as well.
The film has an ensemble cast including Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, and Jayaram Ravi.
Produced by Mani Ratnam and Allirajah Subaskaranunder under the banners of Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, the historical drama will hit the big screens on September 30.
