Mani Ratnam’s big film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is slated for September 30 release and the makers have planned to kick-off the promotion in the capital of Chola’s Thajavur. The film is set during the Chola kingdom and is based on the novel of same title.
The teaser of the film is set to be launched on July 7 at the premises of the famous Brihadeeswara temple.
‘Ponniyin Selvan’ features Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Prakash Raj, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha and Aishwarya Lekshmi. AR Rahman is scoring the music for the film.

The film has two parts, while the first part is releasing this September, the second part might release in Summer 2023.
The total budget for the two parts of the film is said to be Rs 500 crores, of which already 25% is recovered by the producer from the streaming rights sale. The franchise is bankrolled by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies & Lyca Productions.
