Police officials and Forest Department has arrested Malappuram resident Wilson, in connection with the killing of a pregnant elephant in Palakkad. During questioning, Wilson confessed his crime. However, he denied that the action was carried out with the intention of killing the elephant. He maintained that it was in order to kill wild boar that he filled crackers inside coconut; however, the intervention of elephant into this became quite unfortunate.
It was early this morning that Wilson, who is a rubber-tapping laborer and tenant in Ambalappara, Palakkad, got arrested by the officials. The death of a pregnant elephant, who suffered serious injurious due to consuming a cracker filled edible, has given way for massive protest across the nation, with several prominent personalities taking social media to express their anger. The case however, is expected to have more people involved with it and more arrests might take place in the coming days.
