The Censor Board has been constantly denying permission to release the movie ‘1921 Puzha muthal Puzha vare’ directed by Ramasimhan Aboobakker aka Ali Akbar, which is based on the theme of Malabar Hindu Genocide. The director on Tuesday said that he has filed a plea in the High Court against the Censor Board’s stance.
Taking to Facebook, he wrote, “A petition has been filed in the High Court against the action taken by the Censor Board against our film Puzha Muthal Puzha Vare. Adv Reji George and Adv Binoy David appeared for us and served notice on the opposite parties. The case will be heard again in two weeks.”

Ever since the announcement, fundamentalists and left-wing intellectuals have come out against the film. The main reason behind the objections is that the film will expose the true face of the Hindu genocide in Malabar, which here it is celebrated as a freedom struggle. The Censor Board has also blocked the release of the film for months. Thalaivasal Vijay, Joy Mathew, R.L.V. Ramakrishnan is playing the lead role in the film. Thalaivasal Vijay is playing the role of Wariankunnath Kunjahammed Haji.
