Superstar Rajinikanth studied at the Madras Film Institute. Our Srinivasan also studied here. Another person who studied here was Adam Ayub, who later became a filmmaker. He is one of Rajinikanth’s yesteryear superstars. He is also one of the important reasons why Rajinikanth later became a superstar. Now he is sharing his memories about the superstar in an interview given to an online media.

“Rajinikanth was the same as Srinivasan. He was very black. He had a lot of sense of inferiority. And he came from a poor background. He was a bus conductor in Bangalore. He had come to class on leave. He has to study by working in the bus. Some of his bus conductor friends would also pay him. Rajinikanth was living with this money” – says Adam Ayub.

“Rajinikanth has often told me that you are white, so you will escape quickly. He had a sense of inferiority. But I always told him the story of Satyan Mash. Color is never an issue, I used to give confidence by saying this. “K Balachandran, the director, called Rajinikanth after the final exam,” he adds.

“In the year 1975, Rajinikanth was invited to the film Apoorva Raganal directed by him. We had a chance to see its review. He was still going to work at that time. Immediately after the review, I told him to resign. But Rajinikanth’s reply was that the film was not even released. Before that, Rajinikanth had said that if I quit my job, my family would starve. He resigned because of my insistence. Later he became a big star. But we haven’t seen much since then” – Adam Ayub.
