The police have confirmed that the incident in which two women were trafficked from Kochi and brought to Elanthur in Thiruvalla was human sacrifice. The police said that the human sacrifice was done for the Bhagwant Singh-Laila couple of Thiruvalla and shocking information was found during the investigation into the missing woman complaint in Kadavanthra, Kochi.
Padmam, a native of Ernakulam Ponnurunni, and Rosli, a native of Idukki and a resident of Kaladi, were sacrificed in Thiruvalla. After transporting both women from Kochi to Thiruvalla, they were beheaded and dismembered their bodies and buried them. The human sacrifice was executed for the couple Bhagwant-Laila, a physician of Kozhenchery Elanthur in Thiruvalla. Shihab (Shafi), a native of Perumbavoor, produced the women for the accused couple. According to the police, he acted as an agent in the incident and the three of them committed the murder.
Padma, a lottery seller went absconding on October 26 and the next day her relatives informed the police. An investigation by the Kadavanthra police found that the mobile tower location of Padma was last found to be in Thiruvalla. Later, during the investigation conducted by the police at Thiruvalla, it was confirmed that Padma was killed and her body was buried.
Soon the Bhagwant-Laila couple was taken into police custody. Later, Shafi, who handed over the woman to them, was also arrested. After interrogating them, the shocking human sacrifice story was unraveled.
It is reported that Shihab, a native of Perumbavoor, got connected with Bhagwat Singh and his wife through Facebook. Further it was decided that human sacrifice has to be executed for financial prosperity and prosperity of the family. And Shafi assured them that women will be brought by him for this purpose.
Later, Shafi lured two women who were lottery sellers from Kochi and brought them to Elanthur in Thiruvalla.
The police suspect that the first murder was done in the month of June as part of human sacrifice. Rosli, who was trafficked from Kalady in June, was killed that day. The police received a complaint about Rosli’s disappearance in August. Padma also went missing from Kadavanthra on September 26 while the police were investigating. The investigation into this complaint led to the murders.
The police found that Padma was killed at the end of September. A police team from Kochi and officials including RDO have reached Thiruvalla’s Elanthur to recover their bodies.
