The ban on travelling by air with ‘Irumudikettu’ or two pouch knots has been lifted as per an order issued by the Director of the Bureau of Civil Aviation. The move comes in the wake of the start of Mandala Makaravilakku Pilgrimage at Sabarimala. The travelling with irumudikettu will be allowed till Makaravilakku.
Previously, there was no permission to board the flight with Irumudikettu as a matter of security reasons. However, considering the inconvenience to the pilgrims, the restriction was relaxed.
At the same time, the order stated that the devotees will be permitted to travel by air only after a detailed inspection.
