Palakkad: In Tamil Nadu, Robin Bus, which ran services to Coimbatore in defiance of the transport department in Kerala, was fined heavily.

Robin Motors was fined at the Chavadi check post. The bus owner had to pay twice the amount charged in Kerala. A fine of Rs 70,410 had to be paid.

The action is for providing service without permission. This amount includes tax along with fine.

The Tamil Nadu MVD seized the bus for operating the service illegally.

With this, the vehicle owner continued the service after paying one week’s tax and penalty. With the payment of this amount, the service to Tamil Nadu will be available till November 24.

Robin bus left from Pathanamthitta bus stand at 5 o’clock this morning. But
By the time the departing Robin bus had passed 200 meters, the officials of the Motor Vehicle Department had arrived and conducted an inspection.

A fine of Rs 7500 was initially imposed for violation of the permit. But the motor vehicle department officials did not seize the bus.

Then the Motor Vehicle Department would conduct inspections at many places and impose fines.

Robin Basutama said that a total of Rs 37500 has been fined from Kerala so far.
