Thrissur: TN Prathapan MP said that the central government is cheating the people by distributing the rice which was distributed through ration shops in the state in the name of Bharat rice.
The state government should urgently intervene in this matter. Prathapan also demanded that the concerned state minister should not complain and take steps to solve the problem.
'Rice was given at 10 rupees 90 paise in ration shops. This rice is distributed through central institutions at the rate of Rs 29 per kg.
Bharat provides rice without a ration card. If the Center intends to supply rice to genuine consumers, it should be through public distribution system. TN Prathapan also said that the ration traders' association has raised this issue.
Pratapan also asked that election fraud should not be done by spreading the word that rice is given by Modi. '
Prathapan said that although free rice and subsidized rice are being distributed, it is not acceptable for the state governments to take the rice provided through the ration shop and distribute it through the back door.
Meanwhile, Minister GR Anil had earlier come out against the rice being provided by the Center in the name of Modi rice.
The rice supplied by SupplyCo at Rs 24 is supplied by the central government at Rs 29 as Bharat Rice.
The rice available in the ration shop is distributed under the name of Bharat Ari at Rs.29. This is not the champa rice you get in the ration shop. Chakari is called rice in the country. Other than that, Kogi Jaya rice is nothing.
The same rice is offered through SupplyCo at Rs.24. The minister had also said that the same rice is given to blue card holders for 4 rupees and 10.90 paise to white card holders through the ration shop.
