Police has found the body of a final year B.Com student from Chembilavu area. It was by noon that, the body of Anju P Shaji, a 20 year old student of St. Antony’s College, Kanjirappally, was found by the police. Anju, who has been missing from Saturday, was said to have fallen from the Cherppunkal Bridge. Police is also suspecting it to be a case of suicide. Going in line with the reports, Anju was under a stressful state, and left the exam center – BVM Holy Cross College, Cherppunkal – before the completion of the sixth semester examination.
As was informed by the college authorities, Anju was caught for cheating in the exam and left the exam hall, early. The principal of BVM Holy Cross College, Fr. Joseph, Njarakkattil said that after being found cheating the exam, her paper and hall tickets were captured by the invigilating team. However, the accusations were denied by Anju’s father Shaji, who said that his daughter was a bright student, and need not to cheat the exam. As was seen from the CCTV footages, Anju was seen sitting in the exam hall for another 30 minutes, after her hall ticket and exam paper was captured by the authorities. He accused the authorities of exerting mental torture on his daughter, which might have resulted in the supposed suicide of the 20 year old girl. Women’s Commission has filed a case on the matter and asked authorities to probe into the case.
