Malayalam’s popular comedian-actor, Suraj Venjaramoodu, gave the audience several comic characters, like Idivettu Sugunan and Dasamoolam Damu. After a certain period, the actor started playing as the protagonist, serious character, cop, and politician.
In an interview with Mirchi Malayalam, Suraj was asked whether he would do comic roles again. He said, ” Well, often people ask me whether I have stopped doing comedy. To be honest, I’m actually tired of playing serious characters. Comedy is my life force.”

“Initially, I got many characters to play, mainly to essay a role of a friend. We were not narrated any script then and lacked idea of the film we were doing,” The Great Indian Kitchen actor said.

“The characters were either the mate who walks with Mammootty or Lalettan (Mohanlal). Other than that there is no detailing of what the character was. So much has been laughed at and disgusted. After a while, I realized that I need to work on a good character. I asked several people for a chance of a good character desperately. That’s how I got a couple of scenes in Abrid Shine’s film. Since then, I started getting serious characters,” he continued.

Suraj added,” It’s not that I’m not interested in comedy now. I can only select from the script that comes to me. A comedy film is on the way. I will be doing a film with the popular ‘Karikku’ team. I have also acted in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s film which is also a comedy genre.”
Suraj Venjaramoodu will be next seen in ‘Jana Gana Mana’ along with Prithviraj Sukumaran, which will release on April 28. The film is directed by Dijo Jose Antony.
