The incident of gold smuggling through diplomatic baggage at Thiruvananthapuram Airport has invited attention from across the country. The incident has also been given way for some serious rounds of discussion in Kerala politics. That said, Swapna Suresh, the prime accused in the case has submitted an anticipatory bail. Submitted through the e filing facility, it was by late night that she submitted her anticipator bail, which is not expected to be considered today. As was expected, in the anticipatory bail application, Swapna Suresh said that she had no connection with the incident.
Stating that she had no criminal background, Swapan Suresh maintained that she is still part of the UAE Consulate, as a temporary staff. Maintaining that she handled various tasks, as was instructed by the consulate, Swapna Suresh said that it was due to Covid, which the parcel to the Consulate got delayed. She also added that what she did, was just making inquiry about the deliverance of the parcel. The controversial figure made it clear that she is willing to cooperate with the investigation team; she also said that right now, she has been subject to the media persecution.
