The murder of Maya Murali, a native of Harvipuram, Perurkada, Thiruvananthapuram, shocked the whole of Kerala. Their age was only 37 years. Now the accused in this case is under arrest. The auto driver who lived with them was arrested. His name is Ranjith. His age is only 31 years. He was arrested from Tamil Nadu.
It was on May 9 that the girl was found dead in a rubber barn near a rented house in Mudiavila. Ranjith, who lived with them, went missing. He drowned after leaving the autorickshaw he was driving and his mobile phone there. But later the police got the CCTV footage of him roaming around at night in various places in Perurkada.
Following this, the police intensified the investigation. Then he went to the land between him. Ranjith came to drive the girl's father's autorickshaw a year ago. Maya's husband was dead. Then he got closer to Maya. Both of them were living together for eight months. Relatives say that since then he had brutally abused the girl. He brutalized the girl until the day before her death. The post-mortem report says that the girl died due to his brutal beating.
According to the police, Ranjith had relations with many women. The police say that when he was sure that Maya would leave him, he beat the woman to death. He has now been arrested two weeks after the murder. Due to his constant harassment, the girl was preparing to go back home. He was working in a hotel in Theni. Meanwhile, the police caught him. He was drunk at the time. The police also say that all the clothes of the accused were removed from there. He broke even after destroying the mobile phone. Although there are no other cases against the accused, the police say that he has a criminal background. He had relationships with many other women.
