Megastar Mammootty’s latest outing The Priest is now widely called the project that has resurrected Malayalam cinema from Covid crisis. Despite the ever hinging threat of Covid over the head, this Mammootty – Manju Warrier project has managed to witness large number of footfalls across all the releasing centres. That said, the film has raked in a huge amount from Kerala box office, by registering more than INR 2 Cr from Kerala box office on the opening day itself. At the end of its 4 day box office run, the movie has reportedly collected INR 7.6 Cr from Kerala.

Meanwhile, the Gulf collection of the film has been released by industry trackers. According to the unofficial reports, this Jofin T Chacko directorial has minted around INR 3 Cr from UAE, while the GCC gross figure stands at INR 1.7 Cr – taking the total collection of the horror thriller to INR 4.7 Cr during its 4 day run in these markets. Adding the collection from other markets as well, the gross worldwide collection of the movie stands a little over INR 12.62 Cr. This is a phenomenal feat, considering that the sanctioned theatre occupancy is still way short of the pre-covid levels.
