Kottayam: Private bus owners in the state have called off their strike scheduled to begin on Tuesday. The decision was taken in a meeting between Transport Minister Antony Raju and representatives of a private bus owners’ association. The discussion was held in Kottayam on Monday night at 10 pm. The decision to call off the strike was taken after a two-hour discussion.
After the discussion, Minister Antony Raj said that the demands raised by the bus owners would be considered by the 18th of this month. He said talks would continue. The bus owners said that the government has been given a week and the response from the government has been positive. Private buses have been on strike since Tuesday, demanding an increase in fares, including for students, and a diesel subsidy.
