The Foreign Affairs Ministry has informed the Chief Secretary that the TrueNat test prescribed for the incoming NRIs would be highly impracticable. Stating that though the states have raised demands for the conductance of the test, the Gulf countries haven’t approved the test yet. With this, it has to be seen how the state is going to handle the issue. The controversy began, when Kerala raised the demand of conducting a mandatory TrueNat test for the incoming NRIs, as part of the state’s fight against Corona virus.
Upon the state government’s decision turning controversial, the state came up saying that it would make necessary arrangements such as providing TrueNat test kits for those countries, which falls short of facilities. However, with the central government’s latest stance, state’s demand has met with yet another roadblock. TrueNat test is prescribed by the state, on the view that it ensures better accuracy than the antibody tests.
