Despite facing criticism from the opposition parties, Thiruvananthapuram Corporation mayor Arya Rajendran reiterated that she won’t step down from the post and will cooperate with the probe team in the case pertaining to the appointment letter. She added that she would continue in her office as long as she has the support of councillors.
“Every aspect has to be inspected in the investigation. The office of the mayor should be inspected. I am ready to hand over personal devices, including my phone,” she said.
“I don’t have an opinion that the Crime Branch’s probe on the matter is lagging. It is just propaganda. The chief minister has announced a probe within 24 hours of a complaint. The evidence collection and recording of statements were completed swiftly,” she said.
At the same time, Mayor welcomed Kerala High Court’s view that there is a need to hear what the mayor has to say on the matter.
