Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran allegedly stirred controversy after a letter addressed to CPM district secretary demanding a priority list for appointing party members to various posts in the Municipal Corporation.

The letter is written on the Mayor’s official letter pad and has been sent to CPM District Secretary Anavoor Nagappan. The letter demands list for appointing party members to 295 temporary posts in the Municipal Corporation.

The letter mentions appointments to 295 temporary posts vacant in the health department on a daily wage basis. The letter sent on November 1 surfaced after the CPM district leaders circulated it in their WhatsApp groups.

Opposition will launch a protest campaign in connection with the controversial letter from Mayor Arya Rajendran.

Meanwhile, another letter discussing appointment of CPM workers in Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation has surfaced.

The letter, sent from Corporation to the CPM District secretary, requests a list of potential candidates to be appointed for 9 vacancies at SIT hospital in the capital city. The letter is from Corporation Parliamentary Party Secretary DR Anil to CPM District Secretary Anavoor Nagappan.

The letter sent on October 24 contains details of staff appointments to be made through Kudumbashree in the rest centre built for the patients’ aids in the hospital. DR Anil is the CPM Parliamentary Party Secretary and also the Standing Committee Chairman of the Public Works Section of the Corporation.
