Uber has re launched the ‘AUTO’ services in India, almost two years after it had shut the services. The ‘AUTO’ option will be visible in Uber app by the end of this month. Though they are planning for a national rollout of the service, the ‘AUTO’ option will only be available in Pune and Bengaluru in the initial phase. It was in order to maintain the equation with ‘Ola’, which Uber has decided to bring back ‘AUTO’ to its platform.
That said, Ola had started the ‘AUTO’ option in its app back in 2014, while it has been uninterruptedly running till now. Right now, Ola ‘AUTO’ has its presence felt in over 73 cities. Before the closure, the Uber ‘AUTO’ option was available in these cities – New Delhi, Coimbatore, Indore and Bhubaneswar.
