CM Pinarayi Vijayan, while addressing the media, said that ‘Variyam Kunnath Kunjahammed Haji’ was a great warrior. It was while commenting on the recent controversy surrounding the historical persona, that the CM made his stance clear. With this, it has to be seen whether the four different films announced on the life of the historical figure, will give way for the tussle of muscles between political parties. Earlier, the state wing of BJP maintained that they were open to historical film, provided that history wasn’t presented by tweaking the facts.
Meanwhile, Film Chambers have intervened in the controversy, and said that only films that have registered at Film Chambers would be allowed to be played in theatres. Now, it is uncertain that which of the four films announced by filmmakers– Aashiq Abu, PT Kunjumuhammed, Ibrahim Vengara, and Ali Akbar – have met this requirement. Making it clear that they are with Producers’ Association, the decision taken by the Film Chambers might shape the direction of the controversy surrounding the projects. Meanwhile, several organizations have come forward asking Prithviraj to back off from one of the projects, which is helmed by Aashiq Abu.
