Noted actress Usharani Nair (68) has passed away. The veteran actress has acted in over 200 movies across all the South Indian languages, as well as in Hindi. She has been undergoing health issues and was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai for kidney related problems. Wife to late director N Sankaran Nair, she had been living with her son, Vishnu Sankar in Chennai.
Having started off filmy career in 1966, Usharani has acted in more than 30 films as child artist. However, her career as a lead actress began with Kamal Hassan, and has gone onto act with Sivaji Ganesan, MGR, Jayalalita in Tamil and several movies with Prem Nazir in Malayalam. After marrying N Sankaran Nair, she took a hiatus from acting, and came back in the 1990s. With the demise of her husband in 2005, she stopped acting in films.
