One of the most respected journalists in Kerala, S Gopan Nair (79) has passed away. Admitted to the Bathra Hospital in Delhi, it was cardiac arrest, which caused the death of the veteran. The veteran journalist, who had served as the head of the Malayalam division of Akashvani, was one of the most familiar voices of the division for a long period of time.
Entering the service at the age of 21, it was through the voice of S Gopan Nair, which Kerala knew the death news of Jawaharlal Nehru, the launching of Arya Bhatta etc. The Malayalam version of the advertisement ‘Lungs are like Sponges’ made him quite popular. At the time of death, he was survived by wife Radha and son Pramod.
