The death of Siddharthan, a student of Wayanad Veterinary College, became a major controversy. It is said that SFI workers beat him to death. Siddharth’s father also alleges the same. But the students studying here have given a clean chit to SFI. SFI workers said that SFI is the organization that stopped ragging in colleges and SFI has lost many workers due to ragging. Not only that, they also played a drama to make Siddharth an SFI worker after his death.

Now that all the details of the incident have been laid down, an order has been brought to recall the two persons who were allegedly responsible for the death. The decision to reinstate the suspended college dean and hostel warden was taken. Reports are coming out that this has now been frozen by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. This action was brought by the managing council. Siddharth’s family and the Save University campaign approached the governor against this.

The committee headed by retired High Court judge Justice M Hariprasad was the committee appointed by the Governor to inquire into Siddharth’s death. In the report of this committee, the dean and the assistant warden are alleged to be guilty. It was also demanded that departmental action should be taken against them. After considering the report, the university managing council decided to reinstate the two persons in the service without taking any action.

It has already been alleged that the voluntary decision of the Veterinary University Governing Body will send a wrong message to the academic community. Siddharth’s parents and the university campaign committee jointly submitted a petition to the governor demanding that incidents like this should not be decided on the basis of majority vote and that the decision of the university should be canceled and action should be taken against the culprits.
