Actor-producer Vijay Babu on Friday filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Kerala High Court, in a sexual assault case registered against him. The plea said the complainant is trying to blackmail him.
According to latest reports, the High Court has accepted the bail plea of actor Vijay Babu in a rape case and adjourned it for consideration after the summer recess. In the petition, Vijay Babu alleges that the complainant was trying to blackmail him out of resentment at not being given a chance in the film. The city police commissioner said there was strong evidence against the accused and it was better to surrender. However, Vijay Babu did not ask the High Court to stay the arrest or seek an interim order.
In the petition, Vijay Babu alleges that it has become a fad to trap high-ranking members of the society and that the complaint was made with such malicious intent. He did not torture the actress in any way. The complaint is aimed at defaming him. The truth of the matter can be convinced to the court and the investigation team. He said that he has digital evidence, including WhatsApp chats, messages and videos, to help prove his innocence.
In the petition, Vijay Babu has stated that he will co-operate with the investigation in any way and does not need to be remanded in police custody. Meanwhile, the police are likely to reveal more details related to the case in court while considering the bail plea. The police also asked the court not to grant bail to Vijay Babu in any way. Earlier, the Kochi City Police Commissioner had said that he expects Vijay Babu will surrender before the police.
