Chennai: Kasammal (71), who played a prominent role in the National Award-winning movie 'Kadaisi Ishwani', was killed.
Kasammal was killed by his son's beating. While fighting over asking for money for drinking, the son hit his mother on the head.
According to the police FIR, Kazammal died on the spot. The incident took place in Anayur near Usilampatti in Madurai district.
Police arrested his son Namakodi (52) for the murder. Balsami-Kasammal couple have three children apart from Namakodi.
After falling out with his wife, Namakodi lived with Kasammal.
On the other hand, Kadaisi Vaishyani is a film written, directed and produced by M Manikandan. The movie is about an 85 year old farmer.
Vijay Sethupathi and late actor Nallandi played the lead roles in the film. Kasammal acted opposite Vijay Sethupathi in the film.
Kadaisi Vaishyani won the National Award for Best Tamil Film. The film was critically acclaimed.
