Actor-politician Suresh Gopi MP had come under attack after videos of him giving ‘vishu kaineetam’ surfaced on social media. People were seen collecting kaineetam from the actor who was seated in a car, and touching his feet as a gesture of respect.
Suresh Gopi who is about to retire from the Rajya Sabha responded to criticisms and said, ” I had given money to the temple last year as well. This time, I reached Thrissur soon and had decided to celebrate Vishu for a week and also give Kaineetam to everyone.”
The actor harshly criticised those who alleged that the BJP was buying votes by giving money. He said, ” Giving kaineetam has been a tradition for years. If it scares, ask accusers to go and die.”
“It’s a pity that an army of frogs can’t understand the noble intention behind such an act. It’s our greatest victory that they got piqued,” he said, adding that he spoke at length about it because he did feel sad about such mindless criticism.
