In the Vismaya Nair murder case, who died under mysterious circumstances at her husband’s house, Govt decided to dismiss Kiran Kumar (30) from the service. Kiran Kumar was working as Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector at the Kollam Regional Office of the State Motor Vehicle Department The action was taken under the Kerala Civil Service Act, 1960 for defamation of the Government and the Department of Motor Vehicles by the public through anti-women, anti-social, anti-gender, serious offenses, and misconduct.
Kollam Sooranad police registered a criminal case on June 21 against Vismaya’s husband Kiran S Kumar. It has been reported that dowry was the result of constant quarrels and physical and mental abuse. This is a violation of Section 93 (C) of the Code of Conduct for Public Servants, 1960, which prohibits government employees from giving or receiving dowry. Following this, Kiran Kumar was suspended from service on June 22 pending an inquiry and the government directed that the probe be completed within 45 days.
According to the Kerala Civil Service Rule 15 of 1960. Kiran Kumar was given a lawful indictment. Subsequently, a senior official of the Department of Motor Vehicles was appointed for the departmental inquiry of the investigation conducted legally. The charges against the accused were proved beyond a reasonable doubt on the basis of the direct testimony of Kiran Kumar and the testimony of witnesses. It was decided to dismiss Kiran Kumar from the service.
For the first time in the history of Kerala, a husband is being dismissed from government service after his wife died due to dowry harassment. He said that strong action will be taken against the oppression of dowry and women’s security and gender justice will be upheld. The action has been taken to fulfill the promise given by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to the Assembly and the public.
