Writer, publisher and left-wing thinker T.G. Jacob (Tondalil Geevarghese Jacob -72) passed away. He died at around 5.30 am on Christmas Day at a rented house in Muthammil Nagar on Kolkari Road near TK Pet, Gudalur. TG lived in Harrington House, Python Road, Ooty. Jacob moved to Gudalur two years ago. Later CPI (ML) was the editor of ‘Mass Line’ of the Communist Research Center at JNU, which became an ideological publication. He was the editor of Odyssey Publications and a researcher at the South Asian Student Center, Nilgiris. In 1989-90, he worked as a news analyst in Tribune, a journal published from Chandigarh.

Born on 21st May 1951 in Atur. After primary education and college studies, he completed his post graduation in Economics from Kerala University in 1974. In 1975-76, he researched in the Department of Financial Philosophy at JNU for his Ph.D., and his work on ‘Impacts of Rural Electrification in Kashmir Valley’ in Macroeconomics was noted.

In 1988 Delhi started a book publisher and publishing venture called ‘Odyssey’. Gujarat Surat University ICSR T.G., who qualified for the fellowship in 2004-05. Jacob wrote a book on the economic issues of Wayanad called ‘Wayanad, Misery in an Emerald Bowl’. His wife is Pranjali Bandu, a native of Pune and a writer who was a classmate in JNU.

He is the son of late Tondalil Geevarghese and Elizabeth, who was a freedom fighter and leader of the Kerala Congress in Atur, Pathanamthitta. Siblings: Alexander, Nelson, Simon, Somon, Matthew, Annie Varghese, the late Mariamma and Joseph.
