Jairam spoke about the late acting talent Kalabhavan Mani and actor Jagathy Sreekumar. His words are, Jagathy Chetan has been with me since the movie Aparan. Witness is a movie written by Ambili Chetan. I don’t know if it’s me or Mohanlal sir, maybe I am after Lal sir. Even so, I was the person who shared the most screen time with Jagathi Chetan. That is the greatest happiness in life. I could not do so many films with such a great actor. Jagathi is hoping that Chetan will come back someday.
He acted with me till the last shot. It was for the movie Thiruvambadi Thampan. The last shot was with me. We parted at half past midnight. The next day we had to go to the same set. Told me to see you there in the morning. I had one more shot. When the two of them returned the car to leave, there is one more shot of Ambili Chetan saying, “Let me go, I will see you there in the morning.” He had an accident on that arrival. He left after his last shot for the film.
Another thing, I was in the cinema before Mani arrived at Kala Bhavan. Mani and I have many good memories together. That laugh like Mani’s trademark starts during the film Dilliwala Rajkumaran. When Mani laughed in one shot, we all told him to laugh like that several times. That day we told Mani that these laughing times are going to last. He is a man from the soil, a man who is with the common people. Everyone will always remember Mani. Mani was one of them who was with the Chalakudis. That’s why he will never be forgotten.”
