Kochi: Mother sentenced to life imprisonment in the case of killing a newborn baby in a quarry. The trial court convicted Shalini of Ernakulam Thiruvaniyur.
In addition to imprisonment, they were sentenced to a fine of Rs 50,000. The sentence was given by Judge K Soman, a special court in Ernakulam that deals with crimes against women and children.
The incident related to the case took place in June 2021. Shalini was living away from her husband. But in the meantime she got pregnant.
Fearing pride, the baby would be thrown into a quarry as soon as it was born. The court examined 29 witnesses in the case and examined 36 documents and 16 exhibits.
