Google has bagged the Indian patent for a particular method of image identification. The application for patent, which was filed in 2009 at the Mumbai patent office, finally was granted last week. However, it must be reminded right here in that couple of days ago, Google landed up in a controversy, when it placed the image of current PM Narendra Modi, instead of Jawaharlal Nehru, when people searched for India’s first PM.

According to the available reports, Google’s latest image identification tool, involves identifying the name of an entity, by means of face detection algorithms. The method includes metadata, tags and many other similar options. However, it has to be seen, how Google tackles many such issues related to identifying images, which are un-keyed.
