Aluva East CI Sudheer suspended from service for suicide of law student Mofia Parveen. The suspension was taken after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan called Mofia’s parents on the phone. Mofia’s father had said that the chief minister had assured him that action would be taken against CI Sudheer
Earlier Sudheer was transffered to police headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram. The move comes after Congress leaders continue their strike at the police station for the third day in a row, demanding Sudheer’s suspension. The siege of the Congress in front of the station was led by Aluva MLA Anwar Sadath.
It is alleged that Mofia Parveen, who had lodged a complaint against her husband, was abused at the Police Station by CI Sudheer. Mofia left the station and went home and committed suicide. Mofia had made the allegations in a suicide note against her husband Suhail, hist parents and the CI.
Her husband and family members arrested in connection with Mofia’s death are currently in remand. The arrested are Mohammad Suhail (27), mother-in-law Rukia (55) and father-in-law Yusuf (63). The case is now being investigated by Crime Branch.
