The Robin bus that runs to Coimbatore and its owner have been in the media for the past few weeks.
The Department of Motor Vehicles took continuous action after Robin Bus violated the contract license.
MVD has also clarified that contract carriage license holders are not allowed for stage carriage. Later, the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicle Department took the bus into custody.
But Girish’s argument was that he was running the service legally. Robin bus owner’s argument was that he has an all-India permit and can operate the service by running a stage carriage.
However, in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the authorities imposed a fine of more than one lakh rupees for violating the law. The Kerala MVD was released after paying the fine as there was a High Court order not to arrest.
