In a big crackdown, Excise department seized 142 kg of sandalwood from Kannur’s Thottada. The sandalwood smuggling was caught by Edakkad police.
Police arrested Siran (24) from Kasaragod and Muhammad Sufail (24) from Thrissur in the incident. The police said that they were transporting sandalwood in a vehicle with a doctor’s logo on it.
The other day, three sandalwood trees were stolen from Elappara Sri Krishna Swamy temple premises. The trees that were standing in the place of the temple were smuggled that were 40 inch trees. The forest department and the police reached the spot and started an investigation.
