Kollam: A DYFI leader has been arrested in a case of extorting Rs 9 lakh from a college student who was an SFI worker by promising her marriage.
Vishakh, a native of West Kallada Koical area and DYFI unit secretary, was arrested. The girl lodged a complaint with the Shastamkota police on Saturday.
The accused has been arrested under the Scheduled Castes Prevention of Harassment Act. In October 2022, Vishakh will become intimate with the girl.
Both of them first saw SFI's model during the event. Later both fell in love. Visakh assured the girl that he would marry her.

Later Visakh asked the girl for money for various purposes. Around 9 lakh rupees was also transferred through Google Pay of the girl, a school teacher's mother.
It was the girl who paid the installments of Visakh's bullet. He cheated several times by buying the necklace as a pawn and paying the money with the girl. The girl later testified that she handed over three lakh rupees directly.
The SFI activist lodged a complaint with the police when Visakh became close to another girl. The police registered a case on the charges of rape, harassment of Scheduled Castes and fraud.
The Shastamkota police have a case of assault against Vishakh, who is a regular alcoholic.
There was another similar complaint against Visakh, but that case was settled.
