A fake liquor manufacturing plant was found in Peringotukara. 1200 liters of liquor was seized by excise. This is a center where sufficient spirit is brought here and alcohol is made. After that, their habit was to bottle the alcohol and sell it in Thrissur district and neighboring districts. Dr. Anup from Iringalakuda, Reggie and Robin from Kottayam, Cyril from Thrissur Kallur, Melvin from Kollam and Prajeesh from Chirakkal from Thrissur were caught by the excise.
Dr. Anoop acted in Siju Wilson starrer ‘Varayan’. Months ago, the Excise got a tip-off that a counterfeit liquor manufacturing facility was operating near a food stall in Peringotukara. Excise officers were under strict surveillance here. Finally, the gang was arrested during a joint investigation conducted by the Central Excise Squad and a team led by the Excise CI. The accused kept fake liquor in bottles and cans. 432 alcohol bottles of one liter were found during the inspection. 16 cases of foreign liquor were also recovered from two cars parked behind the restaurant. The accused were selling liquor by putting fake labels of leading brands on the bottles.
