Ranju Ranjimar is a famous celebrity makeup artist in Kerala. Ranju has repeatedly spoken publicly about the misfortunes and ridicule they face in the name of being a transgender. Now Ranju is talking about Chanthu Pottu, one of the super hit movies in Malayalam. The actor talks about the jokes he had to go through in the name of that movie.
He could not travel by bus or train or spend time in public places. He received insults and ridicule from everywhere. Chanthupottu was released in 2005. There was no opportunity to make films by raising awareness among our community. Many of the dialogues in the film were very painful. It was a condition that had to be adorned with a name. It became like a name written on our foreheads. I have cried in public. But Marykutty is a movie that we are very proud of. I went to the theater and saw the film with great pride. Ranju also spoke about his arrival in cinema.
In the movie itself, two actresses raised their hands. They are Jyotirmayi and Mukta. Having worked in the brick kiln and wood mill, he never expected to come into this world of makeup. When I was young, my job was to dress my sister’s children. My first make-up experience was to go to the next of kin’s weddings and give them tears and tie their hair.
