Mammootty has responded to the report during the promotions of the film Kathal: The Core. Mammootty himself responds that Rajinikanth – Lokesh Kanagaraj is not a part of the film. Mammootty said in the interview that no one has approached him in this regard.
‘Rajni has not yet approached any role in the film. But Thalaivar can be approached for any role in 171 by the team whenever he wants,’ he said. Mammootty and Rajinikanth had previously acted together in the 1991 superhit Mani Ratnam film Dalapati. There were rumors on social media that the two superstars were going to come together after four decades. After Dalapathy Vijay starrer blockbuster action drama Leo, Thalaivar 171 is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The pre-production work of the film is going on.
